The workshop is promoted by the Politecnico di Milano in conjunction with the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari / Alghero
The following universities will be hosted: Politecnico di Milano – PoliMi, University of Cagliari – UniCA, University of Sassari – UniSS (Italy), Universidad de Alcala de Henares – UAH (Spain), Universidade de Lisboa – Ulisboa (portugal), Tianjin Univerity – TjU (China).
The workshop, open to all students of Master Degrees in Architecture and Engineering, will take place in the center of Sardinia, in the village of Oliena, one of the “Authentic Italian Villages”.
The geographic area under study is characterized by an increasing phenomenon of abandonment by its inhabitants which has triggered a progressive process of physical degradation of the ancient urban fabric, to which is added functional obsolescence.
The aim of the workshop is therefore to explore potential strategies and intervention models, at the different levels for the reactivation and retraining of the Oliena matrix center, which, starting from the design of the process, defines the economic and social technical feasibility and It develops the results in urban and techno-typological terms. In this sense, a balance between preservation and valorisation needs and attention will be needed not only from a cultural point of view, but also and above all in relation to social and economic environmental sustainability objectives.
