The idea of Student Colony is to recreate a student community where each and every student is connected together in a way regardless of the student’s background and status. The target users are single, married and disabled students, who are either postgraduate, undergraduate, foreign student, young or matured in behavior.
Student Colony is a communal place to live in. By following the adaptation lifestyle of a termite system, the building program is distributed based on each private zone in a hierarchical form. The student colony provides a unique program for students to bond together in the first step towards student power. Students are able to exhibit their idea for the exhibition in the gallery while the 24-hour studio is an ideal place for a night owl person to do their architectural works, drafting or modeling. The use of steel structure dome and composite glass glazing allows the building to capture the maximum amount of sunlight for vegetation growth in response towards the climate. Thus, the design quality of the Student Colony is to act as an icon that emphasizes on the strength of a bond between students.
The student colony provides a unique program for students to bond together in the first step towards student power. The core of the building is the Induction Chamber. Instead of having an Induction in an enclosed room or at the amphitheater on the ground, why not make it in the lower ground underneath and enclose it?
Fresh students are inducted here to get to know their senior better, bonding with them to maximize the interaction and peer to peer learning with them throughout the 8 semesters.
The Communal Space Center is where students will go for their daily needs; laundry, cafe, etc. From this point, the non-residents of the Student colony experience the architecture of the housing where they would see the student doing their works in the studio, exhibit their ideas and see through the induction process. In the residential block on the 7th floor, the loggia is an ideal place for the students to have their own programs, which would be inviting for the students of the other blocks as a form of social interaction. The Sky Garden would create a green community where students could grow their own crops or make a generative income together.
