The project re-inhabits Bethnal Green’s historic gasholders with an interactive weather playground, a co-living community and a co-working hub designed for millennials. The program reflects on people’s relationship with the outdoors and aims to re-calibrate the current relatively narrow comfort zone in light of happiness felt from varying environmental conditions. Variable clothing fabric is adopted as building skin to choreograph comfort and thus temper internal environments according to user preference. It aims to make the climate screens and facades of the future more flexible to adapt to the unpredictability of the weather just as we change our clothes.
